Why Buy Recycled Paper, Clothes, Shoes, or other products?

Recycled items are the best option for new products because of the obvious savings to our environment. Studies show our society’s "ecological footprint" (the amount of land, resources, water, air, etc. required to sustain a society) is larger than the earth we live on. Some studies show that if the whole world lived like we do in the US, we would need 3 planets to provide our resources.

It is essential we buy recycled products with as much "post consumer" content whenever possible. Post consumer content is material that was previously used by typical consumers and then recycled through the many recycling centers in our communities. When we buy high post-consumer content, we’re helping to close the loop around our everyday use of products, the recycle bins in our yards and communities, the processing and manufacturing plants where materials are recycled and manufactured into other usable consumer goods, and the marketplace where we buy new products.

There are many recycled product options in the market today:

Recycled Clothing is clothing that is made from plastics like water bottles, soda bottles and other common consumer products and packaging.

Recycled Paper and Office Products are made from paper that was used and then recycled. Post-consumer content is the amount of that paper which came from consumer recycling activity, such as recycling phone books, office paper or newspaper.

While most major "office supply" corporations have failed us in creating a strong link in the circle of recycling and refuse to offer major selections of recycled and post-consumer recycled products, there are other places to buy recycled office paper and recycled office products:
TheGreenOffice.com – provides a wide variety of office supply products with a mission of carbon offset and sustainability.

Amazon.com – offers a wide array of recycled paper, office supplies, equipment and more

We really can make a difference when we buy recycled shoes, clothes, household and other items.
