Fair trade advocates reject sweatshops. The fair-trade conscious consumer will purchase products that were made in facilities that meet strict international labor standards where workers were treated with dignity and paid a living wage.
Fair trade certification compliance includes a code of conduct for producers, wage requirements, and workplace transparency in which the locations of and conditions in the factories where their products are made are open to international inspectors at any time.
